Reduce Travel Time By Connecting Agusan – Butuan Road
In spite of the Martial Law in Mindanao, they continue project for Mindanao. The interlink of major provinces in Northern Mindanao particularly Agusan del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Bukidnon province is one of the major projects under the Duterte Administration’s “ Build, Build, Build” program, this is otherwise known as the East-West Lateral Road project. It is aimed to connect agricultural provinces to equally boost economic development and symbiotically benefit from each province’s main produced agricultural products, further enriched farmer’s agricultural know-how through the exchange of ideas, techniques and good practices that are proven helpful in the industry of agribusiness.
The Road widening project is located at K1271 + 984 + K1272 + 455.60, K1273 + 000 – K1274 + 031.96 in Barangay Maningalao, Las Nieves, Agusan del Norte with a total length of 1.4 kilometers inclusive of concrete open canal drainage and intermittent concrete and gravel shoulder. It was started last August 27, 2018, with a programmed amount of P60,090,000.00. The original expiry date of the contract was last April 20, 2019, but due to a Variation Order requiring additional 51 calendar days and a request for Time Extension due to continuous rains, target project completion is moved to July 25, 2019.
With a widened road, “ viajeros” transporting agricultural products from one municipality to another are assured of their safety, worry-free daily commute. Hat their products to be delivered to the market at any point of connected provinces will not be spoiled because of longer travel time or meeting untoward vehicular accident because of narrow or distressed road.
Soon, at its completion children of today will be thankful in the future that the government implemented projects like this that helped uplift their family from poverty.
