Davao Today Columnist Margarita Valle Reportedly Nabbed in CDO Now Release
The National Union of Journalists of the Philippines on Sunday reported that a columnist for a Davao City news site was nabbed on Sunday morning for reasons yet unknown.
NUJP said Margarita Valle, a columnist of Davao Today and also a former columnist of Sun. Star Davao, was reportedly held on Sunday morning at the Laguindingian Airport while waiting for her flight home to Davao City.
Davao City-based opinion writer Margarita Valle was arrested at the Laguindingan Airport in Laguindingan, Misamis Oriental, while on her way back home Sunday morning, June 9.
A columnist of SunStar Davao and Davao Today, Valle was in Cagayan de Oro to conduct a writing workshop for the Rural Missionaries of the Philippines.
The reason for Valle’s arrest remains unclear but she was reportedly told that she will be brought to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).
Maj. Napoleon Carpio of the CIDG-10 has confirmed Valle’s arrest but said she was arrested by CIDG-9 operatives.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is set to release Davao City-based columnist Margarita Valle, who was arrested on Sunday morning at Laguindingan Airport in Misamis Oriental.
The police said it was a case of mistaken identity, which they discovered after Valle was brought to an office of the CIDG-Zamboanga Peninsula for further verification.
