Possible Martial Law-Type Role As The AFP Confirmed
Because of this enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), another Martial Law could happen this year in some parts of the Philippines. This is after the spokesperson Brig. Gen. Edgard Arevalo of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) confirmed on Sunday. There is an existence of an internal memo to the Philippine Air Force (PAF), where it described a “martial law-type role” for the members of the military and police in enforcing the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine.
The memo was in line with President Rodrigo Duterte’s statement that he would order military and police personnel to enforce “martial law-like” lockdown measures to control the increase of enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) violations.
According to data from the Philippine National Police (PNP) as of Saturday, a total of 126,302 violators of the ECQ were either fined, apprehended or warned.
If we remember last May 23, 2017 Mindanao was under Martial Law for 60 days due to treating of the terrorists in Mindanao and extended until December of 2018 and this is under the proclamation No. 216. But Mindanaoans are really like how Martial Law is implemented in the Island of Mindanao. We really feel safe because the Military and Police who are assigned in Mindanao are all friendly to the community and in return the people love them.
If this Martial Law will pursue due to enhanced community quarantine lets always look for the positive side of this Martial Law. There are still Advantages of Martial law if it will be implemented.
This is your time for Luzon people who go outside to the street and protest against the government and shouting to stop the Martial Law of Mindanao but Mindanaoans are really like the Martial Law that the government implemented it.
“The AFP took cognizance of the order and already prepares for it even before the order to deploy is given. That, we suppose, makes the AFP unique and dependable as an institution because of initiative and foresight. We take orders and know which are specific tasks and which are implied.”
“We believe there is nothing to be alarmed about in this natural reaction of the AFP to prepare and deploy when it becomes necessary,” he added.
Luzon was placed under ECQ as cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) continue to rise.
The Philippines so far as 6,087 COVID-19 cases, with 516 recoveries and 397 fatalities.
