Before and After Linear Park Project in CDO

When an active community and a very engaging stakeholders and partners join forces in a worthwhile endeavor, it usually produces positive result.

This holds true after Cagayan de Oro City’s 180-meter Linear Park Project along Bitan-ag Creek at Barangay 22 won the 2018 Asian Townscape Award, a citation given to cities, regions, projects, etc. that played a significant role as models in landscape construction.

Linear Park Project is an initiative of Hapsay Sapa Council spearheaded by Mr. Patrick Gabutina which aims to rehabilitate garbage-littered Bitan-ag Creek through sustained community involvement in practicing proper waste disposal and management, as well as to provide accessible road with street lights and benches to people living along creek side.

This project is funded by UN Habitat and the City Government and in partnership with Barangay 22 Council headed by PB Eldo Casiño, Cepalco, Cowd, Xavier University, University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines, DPWH and DENR. (IAF-CIO)
