The Department of Transportation announced on September 3 that the Port of Cagayan de Oro‘s new passenger terminal building is 79.40% complete. Scheduled to open and become fully operational by December, the Port of Cagayan de Oro is set to be the biggest port passenger terminal building in the Philippines, and is expected to accommodate around 3,000 passengers daily.
According to a report by Business World, the Port of Cagayan’s new passenger terminal building started construction on June 2016 and is spearheaded by construction company Jejor’s Construction Corporation. The new passenger terminal building will feature passenger port facilities such as x-ray scanning machines, walk-through metal detectors, restrooms, charging stations, pay parking, ticketing offices, and field offices for port and tourist police.
The Port of Cagayan de Oro’s new passenger terminal building is a great excuse to finally visit Cagayan de Oro, which is known for its proximity to the island paradise of Camiguin Island.
