Cagayan de Oro Bloggers done with many outreach programs already, helping our community is one of the objectives that they have. This year of 2013 Cagayan de Oro Bloggers in partnership with Child Protection Brigade Volunteers we work hand by hand to give a big smile for these children who needs some assistance. We need some help from you guys, if you have plenty of blessing then share some or else you can help us to become one o the volunteers for this outreach program.
The next outreach is at Makapaya Permanent Relocation Site this coming March 10, 2013 Sunday from 9am to 12 noon; the place is located in the Upper Camaman-an boundary of Barangay Indahag. This relocation site is one of the temporary shelters of Typhoon Sendong victims who live in macasandig, cala2x, tibasak and nearby river banks of Nazareth.
Status and Conditions:
They have the shelter but that doesn’t end the problem, these are the follow concerns they have right now.
- The road – is very difficult to access you need a good transportation to go there. Those who sell in the market or who have jobs in the city find it really hard for them to live in that area cause the fare itself is 50.00 pesos one way only. Imagine if your income per day is just 150.00 pesos how you will survive your daily commodities. Some of the residences here hitch their way to the city with their children at the back of the dump truck.
- Water Supply – They have only four water tank in the community but it’s not enough to sustain for a couple of days plus 335 families and 250 children which is not enough for them. The fire trucks that transport their water from the city comes only once a week. You can’t imagine how difficult for them for the past days, weeks, months they have to go through this kind of living.
- Livelihood – They have been very resourceful in every way they can but still not enough to make a decent meal in a day. From the day the tragedy happen until now they still don’t have any job to work at to gain money nor livelihood to stand off to make a living. This is why they have several children in the community less fortunate from education.
- Education – They still don’t have any room to generate for the nursery and kinder garden and other toddler children who wants to be educated. That why we conduct our class in a small tree where we can find shades and do storytelling and non formal education activity.
