Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corp. will inaugurate its P6-billion import terminal in Cagayan de Oro next month. This will allow to expand and meet the anticipated fuel demand growth in Visayas and Mindanao. It will have a 170,000-cubic-meter capacity, capable of fueling power plants generating a total of 2,000 megawatts.
The launching of the facility in Mindanao will pave the way for the introduction of Euro 4-compliant fuel products and is expected to accommodate shipments of petroleum products, including motor gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel. The facility will contribute to increased security of energy supply particularly in this part of the region as it will provide additional storage capacity of finished petroleum products. At the same time, the facility will help reduce maritime risks as source of petroleum products is closer to the intended distribution points.
